General Assembly

Ethical considerations in the development and deployment of emerging technologies

The UN General Assembly is the only UN body in which each member state of the organization has its representation. The Assembly is structured similarly to national parliaments – there are groups, but they not formed on the basis of political parties or ideologies, but on the basis of regions of the world. The UN General Assembly works in sessions. Sessions start in the third week of September each year and end in September the following year. During this time, the members of the General Assembly have only one vacation – for Christmas and New Year

In the rapidly evolving landscape of emerging AI technologies, ethical considerations are paramount to ensure their development and deployment foster societal benefit while minimizing harm. Key issues include safeguarding against misuse of these technologies, ensuring transparency and accountability in AI decision-making processes, and protecting privacy and data security. By prioritizing ethical guidelines, we can harness AI's potential to enhance human well-being, uphold human rights, and maintain public trust in technological advancements..
